The Most Common Causes of Clinical Depression

Posted in Understanding Depression by on December 8th, 2009

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with clinical depression, of course you are going to need to get clinical depression help, but the first step you want to take is to find out the causes of clinical depression in your case. This is critical, because by finding out the causes of your depression, you can avoid certain triggers in your life and help your depression as much as possible.

There are quite a few different causes of depression and which may be the causes in your case, but here are a few of the most popular.

Causes of Depression

There is not a single cause of depression, but rather various causes, any one or more of one which may be responsible for causing your depression. It is important that you learn about what the different causes are, so that you can figure out what the causes are in your case and, if possible, deal with them and relieve yourself of the depression.

Trauma and stress is one of the most major causes of depression. If you have recently been under more stress than normal for whatever reason, this may be why you are depressed now. Even things like financial problems and the breakup of a relationship can leave a person clinically depressed, so be careful when traumatic events like this happen in your life.

Another of the most commonly known causes of depression is physical conditions, for instance if you have serious medical conditions like heart disease or AIDS, this can leave you depressed, to no surprise really. Try, if you find that you have a serious health condition, to stay positive and not let it get to you, even though obviously it can be very difficult.

Talk to your doctor, and even get in to see a therapist if you need to, it will all be worth it. You need to take care of yourself and take care of your health, and this means getting professional help when you need it.

Another of the possible causes of depression is a psychological disorder. For instance, if you have bipolar disorder you may end up depressed, as this is one of the most common symptoms of bipolar disorder.

If you find the root cause of your depression and treat that, you may find that your depression will go away. Otherwise there are some very effective methods of treatment that you can use to deal with your condition.
